For over a decade now, Boko-Haram has remained the most talked about terrorist group in Nigeria, and has contributed to the deaths of several hundreds of people, with thousands rendered homeless. There is practically no place you will go to in Nigeria where the activities of Boko-Haram in the Northeast region is not known to the people. This is due to the gravity and frequency of attacks by the group despite the efforts of the Nigerian Military to flush them out of the country.

This was followed by the report that some members of the terrorist group have repented and are now ready to turn new leaves. Although the decision to grant amnesty to those that have killed several innocent Nigerians for no justifiable reasons received serious criticism from different quarters, the government maintained its stand and granted amnesty to the repentant Boko-Haram fighters.
Despite that some members of the group that put down their arms were received with a funfair, many of the terrorists remained unmoved, and continued to launch deadly attacks in the Northeast region of Nigeria. Not long ago, it was reported that a rival group identified as Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters stormed the Boko-Haram hideout in Sambissa forest, and engaged the group in a gun duel, leading to the death of Boko-Haram commander, Abubakar Shekau.
The news of Shekau’s death was followed by a report of an alliance between the remaining Boko-Haram fighters and the ISWAP. Since the alliance, the group has continued to carry out attacks on communities, while also engaging the Nigerian military.
